11-17-2011 Exciting Times for the Southwestern MN Racing Scene !!
Jon McCorkell – Jackson Speedway Promoter
We are very excited at Jackson Speedway at the prospects of working with some of the racetracks in our area for 2011. We have been in contact with area tracks that are interested in IMCA, including Slayton, Redwood and Worthington.
Slayton and Redwood where very interested on how we could work together to promote our tracks under IMCA. Worthington was going to discuss the matter with its board members. We have met with Slayton and Redwood and have some very exciting ideas for how we can cross promote our race tracks.
This certainly does not mean that we would not consider other tracks, but any track that wants to participate in our alliance must be IMCA sanctioned, preferably with all of there divisions. The reason for this is pretty simple, and that is you need the cars that are going to be competing against each other to be on the same rules.
As of last Night (11-17-2011) the Murray County Speedway has elected to sanction IMCA across the board: Stock Cars, Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks and Hornets!
At this point of the slow offseason, I thought it would be fun to let the public know some of the cross promotions that have been discussed. These are a work in progress, and not set in stone by any means, and we are open to certainly open to suggestion!!
Since at least one of the tracks is an association, we are thinking of calling this an Alliance, and we are open to suggestion for a name.
Some of the Possibilities for cross promoting the Alliance Tracks include:
There are lots of ways to go with Rivalry Weeks but, I Love this idea for creating interest from racers, fans and Sponsors.
Stay tuned as this is just the Start. If we can all get on the same rules the sky is the limit for our tracks working together!
