at Jackson

Jackson Minnesota (June 23, 2007) -
It was a perfect night for racing this past Saturday at the Jackson
Speedway for United Prairie Bank of Jackson and Jackson Sports race
night. Taking the nights feature race wins were Wade Nygaard, Fargo
ND, Q102 Sprints, Ryan Voss, Okoboji IA, Pizza Ranch Limited
Sprints, Aaron Hanson, Estherville IA, Performance Center IMCA Stock
Cars, and Josh Sidles, Emmetsburg IA, IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Two different
drivers led in the 20-lap Q102 Sprint car feature race. At the
start it was Jesse Drost, Worthington MN, getting the early lead
from his outside row one starting position. Jeremy Dronen, Heron
Lake MN, would get the second spot with Shawn Van Wyhe, Rock Rapids
IA, getting the third spot. The leaders raced in this order for the
first four laps when Wade Nygaard challenged Van Wyhe for the third
spot on lap five and moved into that position. With Drost up front
and pulling away from the field Nygaard would get by Dronen for
second on the sixth lap. The leaders now raced with Drost way up
front followed by Nygaard and Dronen. On lap twelve the caution
flag came out when John Nelson, Blaine MN, stopped on the front
straightaway coming out of turn four. Just as the field was going
to go green, race leader Jesse Drost pulled his car into the pit
area which handed the lead over to Wade Nygaard. When the field
came out of turn four for the green, several cars made contact and
Nick Lusk, Jackson MN, ended up side down on the front
straightaway. Lusk was ok, and four other cars went to the work
area to make repairs. All those cars were able to restart. On the
restart, Nygaard held off the field, but with five laps to go Gordy
Vogelaar, Worthington MN, who restarted the race in the second spot,
challenged Nygaard for the lead. Nygaard however held off Vogelaar
and went on to take the feature race win. He was followed by Gordy
Vogelaar, Bill Boles, Harris IA, Dusty Ballenger, Harrisburg SD, and
Shawn Van Wyhe. Heat race wins went to Gordy Vogelaar and Mitch
Runge, Sioux Falls SD.
It was all Ryan
Voss in the 15-lap Pizza Ranch Limited Sprint car feature race. At
the start of the race the red flag flew when Nate Eakin, Milford IA,
got too high in turns three and four and found the wall flipping
several times. Eakin was ok but done for the night. On the restart
it was Voss getting the early lead from his pole starting position.
Shadrach Sporaa, Boone IA, grabbed the second spot with Steve Yarns,
Jackson MN, the third position. Voss would literally show the field
how it was done as he would pull away from second place running
Sporaa, and Sporaa too would pull away from third place Yarns.
Shortly past half way in the race, the battle for the third spot
heated up as Yarns, Doug Bratrud, Jackson MN, and Bruce Anderson,
Trimont MN, raced closely for the position but Yarns would maintain
the third spot, followed by Bratrud and Anderson. As the race began
to wind down, Voss was well over a straightaway ahead of Sporaa and
over a half lap ahead of Yarns. When the checkered flag waved it
was Ryan Voss taking the win followed by Shadrach Sporaa, Steve
Yarns, Doug Bratrud, and Bruce Anderson. Heat race winners were
Jeff Metli, Mason City IA, and Shadrach Sporaa.
Two different
drivers led in the 15-lap Performance Center IMCA Stock Car feature
race. At the start it was Aaron Hansen getting the early lead from
his pole starting position. Hansen would lead the races first five
laps when Trent Schroeder, Worthington MN, made his move into the
lead. As the race went on Schroeder would maintain his lead
followed by Hansen, and Jesse Baer, Minnesota Lake MN. On lap eight
Jim Larson, Rushmore MN, would challenge Baer for the third spot.
On lap nine Larson would get the position as Baer fell back into the
field. On lap eleven the caution came out when Baer and Derrick
Barglof, Sioux Rapids IA, made contact on the front straightaway.
On the restart Hansen challenged Schroeder for the lead as they were
side by side at the line on lap twelve. While working on lap
thirteen Schroeder would drop out of the race which handed the lead
back over to Hansen. On the closing laps of the race Larson would
look to get the lead on the white flag lap but would lose several
spots as Aaron Hansen picked up the win. Brice Bodle, Wallingford
IA, and Stefan Sybesma, Sanborn IA, would take second and third, as
Jim Larson fell back to fourth. Luke Saathoff, Belle Plaine MN, was
fifth. Heat race winners were Jim Larson and Jeffrey Larson,
Rushmore MN.
The 12-lap IMCA
Hobby Stock feature race went green-white-checkered and the winner
crossed the line in second. At the start it was Josh Sidles,
Emmetsburg IA, getting the early lead with Dustin Larson, Rushmore
MN, getting the second spot. Adam Ecker, Comfrey MN, would grab the
third position, with John Briggs, Calumet IA, the fourth spot. The
leaders would race in this order for the first half of the race when
Briggs would get a flat tire and spin his car trying to get into the
pits. The race stayed green as Briggs got his car off of the
speedway. That gave fourth place to Tim Wilcox, Ida Grove IA. On
lap nine Dan Strandberg, would get by Wilcox and move into fourth.
When the leaders took the white flag Larson and Sidles raced side by
side for the lead and as they raced out of turn four for the win
Larson and Sidles made contact several times. At the line it was
Larson crossing the line first, by a half a car length over Sidles.
Larson would pull into victory lane only to find he had been
disqualified for rough driving. That gave to win to Josh Sidles.
He was followed by Adam Ecker, Dan Thate, Fairmont MN, Dan
Strandberg, Worthington MN, and Tim Wilcox. Heat race winners were
Dan Strandberg and Dustin Larson.
This Saturday will
be Weightronics of Fairmont Employee night at the Jackson Speedway,

Jackson. The Q102 Sprints will be racing for $1200 to win thanks to
extra money put in the purse courtesy of the State Bank of
Fairmont. Also State Bank of Fairmont is offering a $100 hard
charger award for the Q102 Sprint cars. The Pizza Ranch Limited
Sprints along with the Performance Center IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA
