Jackson, Minnesota (July 18, 2009) – On a rather chilly July night a good field of cars pulled into the ASA Sanctioned Jackson Speedway for AGCO of Jackson, GDF Bobcat of Windom MN, and Polz Lawn Care and Landscaping of Jackson, race night.  Picking up the nights feature race wins were Mark Toews, Spirit Lake IA, U.S. Army 360 Sprints; Ryan Voss, Okoboji IA, Napa of Windom 305 Sprints; Jeffrey Larson, Lakefield MN, Performance Center IMCA Stock Cars; Jason Fisher, Lakefield MN, Bohl’s Small Engine and Marine Repair B Modifieds; Dustin Larson, Rushmore MN, Loosbrock Digging Service Hobby Stocks; and Nate Coopman, Mankato MN, Yellowbook Hornets. Winning the June 27th make up feature races were Josh Ruby, Lakota IA, B Mods; Dustin Larson, Hobby Stocks, and Denny Johnson, Madelia MN, Hornets.

The 20-lap 360 Sprint car feature race was led start to finish by Mark Toews. From his outside row one starting position Toews would grab the early lead as Nate Eakin, Milford IA, got the second spot with Mitch Runge, Sioux Falls SD, the third position.  The leaders would race in this order for the first two laps when Runge got by Eakin for second.  At the end of lap three the caution came out for Greg Valentine, Spirit Lake IA, who spun in turn two. On the restart, Toews would keep the field behind him, Runge raced in second and Eakin third.  On lap five Bill Boles, Harris IA, would get by Eakin for the third spot.  The leaders would now race in this order for several laps.  As the race began to near its end, Runge would pull his car into the pit area handing second over to Bill Boles.  Jesse Drost, Rushmore MN, who was racing in fifth moved into third on the eighteenth lap.  When the checkered flag flew it was Mark Toews picking up the win followed by Bill Boles, Jesse Drost, Wade Nygaard, Fargo ND, and Casey Heser, Jackson MN.  Heat race winners were Mark Toews, Lou Kennedy, Jr., Winnipeg CAN, and Mitch Runge.

Two cautions slowed Ryan Voss on his way to victory lane in the 15-lap 305 Sprint car feature.  At the drop of the green it was Voss getting the lead as Russell Wiese, Lake Park IA, got the second spot and Bruce Anderson, Trimont MN, the third spot.  On lap nine the caution came out when Travis Lain, Des Moines IA, spun in two.  Voss held off the field on the restart only to see the caution flag two laps later when Steve Yarns, Jackson MN, came to a stop on back straightaway.  Again Voss held the field off and went on to take the feature win.  He was followed by Russell Wiese, Bruce Anderson, Mike Blomstrom, Ft. Dodge IA, and Frank Phipps, Everly IA.  Heat race winners were Bruce Anderson and Ryan Voss.

Two different drivers led in the 15-lap Stock Car feature.  At the start, Jake Masters, Graettinger IA, got the lead with Jeffrey Larson, getting the second spot, and Brice Bodle, Wallingford IA, getting the third position.  The leaders raced in this order for the first half of the event when Larson began to challenge Masters for the lead.  As the field raced out of turn four on lap ten, Larson would get around Masters and grab the lead.  As the race was nearing its end the battle for the fourth spot got intense as Jim Larson, Rushmore MN, and Trent Schroeder, Worthington MN, went back and forth.  The two would make contact going into turn one on lap fourteen taking each other out of the race. When the checkered flag flew it was Jeffrey Larson taking the win followed by Jake Masters, Luke Sathoff, Jackson MN, Elijah Zevenbergen, Ocheydan IA, and Jeff McCallum, Mankato MN.  Heat winners were Jeffrey Larson and Jake Masters.

Several cautions slowed the action in the 12-lap B Modified feature event.  After two attempts the race finally got underway, and it was Matthew Looft getting the early race lead.  He would lead through the races first seven laps, surviving two restarts, when he was passed by Jason Fisher, Lakefield MN, coming out of turn two.  Jason Fisher would then hold off the field and take the win.  He was followed by Tad Reutzel, Burt IA, Matthew Looft, Greg Sidles, Emmetsburg IA, and Dan Paplow, Dundee MN.  Heat race winners were Tad Reutzel, Travis DeBoer Fairmont MN, and Jason Fisher.

The June 27th Make-up B Modified feature race saw Josh Ruby lead the event start to finish.  At the start, Ruby would get the lead, with Travis DeBoer getting the second spot.  On lap two Oliver Kollofski would get by him for the position.  As the race went on, Ruby would hold off the field through two restarts, to take the victory.  Oliver Kollofski was second followed by Dan Ahlers, Slayton MN, Tad Reutzel, and Greg Sidles.

It was a race of survival in the scheduled 12-lap Hobby Stock feature race that was actually stopped after 10-laps and the time limit expiring.  Chad Carlson, Ormsby MN, would get the early race lead.  He would hold the field off through several caution flags only to lose the lead on lap five to eventual race winner Dustin Larson.  Larson would get the lead on lap five.  He too would have to hold the field off through several restarts.  Finally after time expiring, the race was cut to 10-laps and stopped.  Larson was given the win followed by Chad Carlson, John Briggs, Calumet IA, Bill Woodcock, Spencer IA, and Jason Fisher, Lakefield MN.  Heat races were won by John Briggs, Jason Andrews, Okabena MN, and Dustin Larson.

Two different drivers led in the 12-lap June 27th Make-up Hobby Stock feature.  At the start Chad Krug would get the lead with Brandon Nielsen getting the second spot.  On lap five Dustin Larson would get the lead coming out of turn four, putting Krug back to second.  Dustin Larson would lead the remaining laps and go on to take the win.  He was followed by Chad Krug, Mallard IA, John Briggs, Dan Strandberg, Worthington MN, and Ernie Dailey, Worthington MN.

Only one car would actually cross the finish line in the 6-lap Hornet feature.  Nate Coopman would get the lead from the start of the race, as the rest of the field battled hard, and ended up spinning each other out.  At the end Nate Coopman would be the only car to cross the finish line.  After penalties were served, Denny Johnson, Madelia MN was second with Amanda Kaltved, Estherville IA, third, Jake Schroeder, Lakefield MN, fourth and Jason Baune, Slayton MN, fifth.  Amanda Kaltved was the heat race winner.

The June 27th Make-up Hornet feature was won by Denny Johnson who made a last lap pass on Jake Schroeder to take the win.  Nate Coopman was second followed by Jake Schroeder, Jason Baune and Amanda Kaltved.

This Friday night the Jackson Speedway Touring Series returns to action.  It will be the series inaugural visit to the Hancock County Speedway in Britt IA.  Then Saturday night at Jackson Speedway its Stimulus night at the Speedway sponsored by Pizza Ranch of Jackson, R & R Farms, and Loeschen tax and accounting of Estherville.  Hot laps at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow.
