Worthington Minnesota (August 29, 2009) – On a night that felt more like late September than late August the Jackson Speedway Touring Series invaded the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington MN for the Worthington Nationals.  Winning the night’s 25-lap JSTS Worthington Nationals championship was Scott Winters, Butterfield MN.

It took two attempts to get the 25-lap main event underway.  As the field was working on putting lap one in the books, a four car mishap occurred in turn four.  Eric Lutz, Sioux Falls SD, Doug Martens, Ward SD, Lee Grosz, Harwood ND, and Jeremiah Jordahl, Madison SD, all got together.  Lutz and Jordahl would be done for night while Martens and Grosz were able to restart.  On the complete restart, Casey Heser, Jackson MN, would lose his left rear tire and come to a stop in turn four.  On the next restart, Scott Winters would grab the early lead as Curt Lund, Redwood Falls MN, got the second spot and Jody Rosenboom, Rock Rapids IA would get the third spot.  As the race continued on, the leaders would run is this order until the races next caution on lap thirteen when Eric Schulz, Sioux Falls SD, hit the wall in turn four.  On the restart, Curt Lund would attempt to make a pass on Winters to grab the lead, but Winters was able to keep the field behind him.  With Winters out front, Lund ran in second and Rosenboom third.  The caution would fly again on lap twenty two when Dave Glennon, Casselton ND slowed in turns one and two.  On the restart, Curt Lund would get the lead from Winters and was credited with leading the twenty-third lap.  However Winters was able to reclaim the lead on the next lap when the white flag flew.  Also Jody Rosenboom was able to move into the second spot putting Lund back to third.  When the checkered flag flew it was Scott Winters picking up the win followed Jody Rosenboom, Curt Lund, Lee Grosz, and Jesse Drost, Rushmore MN.  Heat race wins went to Curt Lund and Jody Rosenboom.

The next Jackson Speedway Touring Series event is coming up on Friday, Sept. 18th at Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson SD.  The 2009 JSTS season will conclude at the series’ home track, Jackson Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 26th.  For more information on the JSTS, log onto the series’ website at www.jsts.webs.com.
