Dover takes JSTS win at Park

Jefferson, South Dakota (April 17) The Jackson Speedway Touring Series opened the 2009 racing season this past Friday at the Park Jefferson Speedway at Jefferson, South Dakota. Topping the 28 car field and picking the 20 lap A-Main event was Jack Dover, Springfield NE.
At the start of the main event it was Dusty Zomer, Brandon SD, getting the early lead from his outside row one starting position. Jack Dover would get the second spot from his pole starting spot with Billy Alley, Lincoln NE, getting the third spot. The leaders raced in this order for the first six laps of the race when Jack Dover would make the move into the lead coming out of turn four. With Dover now in front Zomer would race in the second position with Alley third and Gregg Bakker, Sioux Falls SD, fourth. On lap eleven the races first caution came out when Chad Meyer, Sioux Falls SD, spun coming out of turn two. Dover would hold off the field on the restart only to see the yellow flag one lap later. This time for Jody Rosenboom, Rock Rapids IA, who spun on the high side of turn two. The restart saw Dover maintain the number one spot but Zomer would lose second to Billy Alley, putting him back to third. As the laps began to wind down, Gregg Bakker would attempt to move into the third spot pressuring Zomer but he held him off. When the white flag was display Alley was on Dovers tail looking to take the win but as they raced out of turn four it was Jack Dover taking the win. Billy Alley was second followed by Dusty Zomer, Gregg Bakker and Troy Meyer, Sioux Falls SD.
The B Feature was won by Ryan Anderson, Charter Oak IA, with the heat wins going to Chad Meyer, Dusty Zomer, and Mitch Runge, Sioux Falls SD.
The next JSTS race will be at the Jackson Speedway for the 2nd Annual Folkens Brothers/Van Wyhe Livestock Sprint Car Nationals on Friday, May 15th. Two classes of Sprint Cars will take to the track that night with the JSTS sprint feature paying $5,000 to win and the 305 Sprint feature paying $700 to win.
