By: Tom Svoboda/Jackson Speedway

Jackson Minnesota (August 1, 2009) – It was another perfect night for racing action at the ASA Sanctioned Jackson Speedway for Bank Midwest of Jackson and The Pub of Wallingford race night.  It was also Hall of Fame night as three more individuals and one organization was inducted into the Jackson Speedway Hall of Fame.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame, in a special ceremony held Saturday afternoon before the races, were Lyle DeVries, Sioux Falls SD, Junior Theamlitz, Lakefield MN, and Dick Valentine, Spirit Lake IA, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Winning the nights feature races were Wade Nygaard, Fargo ND, US Army Sprints, Frank Phipps, Everly IA, Napa of Windom 305 sprints, Ken Tietz, Belle Plaine MN, Performance Center IMCA Stock Cars, Kyle Steuber, Fairmont MN, Bohl’s Small Engine and Marine Repair B Modifieds, Dustin Larson, Loosbrock Digging Services Hobby Stocks, and Nate Coopman, Mankato MN, Yellowbook Hornets.
Two different drivers led in the 20-lap Sprint Car feature race.  At the start it was Ryan Voss, Okoboji IA, getting the early lead from his front row starting spot.  Mark Toews, Spirit Lake IA, would get the second spot with Wade Nygaard the third position.  The leaders raced in this order for the first two laps when Nygaard got around Toews for second.  He then set his sights on Voss and in three laps was able to make the pass for the lead coming out of turn four.  Voss would slip back to the second spot as Toews ran third.  On lap nine Toews moved into second getting around Voss.  As the leaders completed the ninth lap the yellow flag came out when both Gordy Vogelaar, Worthington MN, and Ryan Voss came to a stop in turn two.  On the restart Nygaard was able to keep the field behind as Toews raced in second and Shawn Van Wyhe, Rock Rapids IA, ran third.  On lap sixteen Van Wyhe would challenge Toews for second but was unable to make the pass.  Wade Nygaard would go on to take the win.  He was followed by Mark Toews, Bill Boles, Harris IA, Casey Heser, Jackson MN, and Jerry Richert, Jr., Forest Lake MN.  Heat races were won by Nate Eakin, Milford IA, and Mark Toews.
The 305 Sprint car feature race saw three different leaders.  At the start it was Mike Blomstrom, Ft. Dodge IA, getting the early lead with Bruce Anderson, Trimont MN, getting the second spot and Frank Phipps, Everly getting third spot.  At the end of lap one Anderson would pass Blomstrom for the lead coming out of turn four.  On the fifth lap the red flag came out when something on the rear end of Blomstrom’s car broke forcing him into Wiese who ended up flipping several times off of turn two.  Both drivers were ok but done for the night.  On the restart Anderson kept the field behind him but only for one lap as Frank Phipps made the move for the lead coming out of turn two.  Phipps led the remaining laps and went on to take the win.  He was followed by Bruce Anderson, Jeff Edgington, Sioux Falls SD, and Curt Thurmer, Jackson MN.  The heat race was won by Frank Phipps.
Three different drivers led in another action packed IMCA Stock Car feature race.  At the start, the caution came out when several cars came together in turn four.  On the complete restart, Gary Mattison, Lamberton MN, got the early lead with Brice Bodle, Wallingford IA, in second and Jim Larson, Rushmore MN, third.  At the end of the first lap the yellow flag came out when Jeff McCallum, Mankato MN, came to a stop on the front straightaway.  On the restart, Mattison held the lead but for only one lap as Brice Bodle moved into the lead.  Two laps later, Ken Tietz would challenge Mattison for second and get the position on lap five.  Bodle would maintain the top spot but would be challenged just past the half way point by Tietz.  On lap eleven Tietz would get around Bodle for the lead, while Jeffrey Larson, Lakefield MN, Jerry Coopman, Mankato MN, and Jake Master, Graettinger IA, all battled for the third spot.  When the checkered flag flew it was Ken Tietz picking up the win followed by Brice Bodle, Jake Masters, Jeffrey Larson, and Jerry Coopman.  Heat race winners were Ken Tietz, Jake Masters, and Luke Sathoff, Jackson MN.
A two car, back and forth battle highlighted the action in the 12-lap B Modified feature event. At the start it was Nick Dieter, Brewster MN, getting the early lead.  Dieter would lead through the first five laps of the race surviving one restart.  On lap six, Kyle Steuber got the lead coming out of turn two.  On the next lap Dieter would regain the lead again coming out of turn two, but again Steuber would pass Dieter back again coming out of turn four for the lead.  Kyle Steuber would hold the field off through one more restart and go on to take the win.  He was followed by Dan Paplow, Dundee MN, Nick Dieter, Greg Sidles, Emmetsburg IA, and Matthew Looft, Swea City IA.  Heat race winners were Kyle Steuber and Dan Paplow.
Three different drivers led in the 12-lap Hobby Stock feature event.  At the start, Chad Carlson, Ormsby MN, got the early lead with Jason Andrews, Okabena MN, getting the second spot.  Andrews would get the lead on the second lap putting Carlson back to second.  Andrews would lead for the next several laps as Dustin Larson was working his way up through the field.  On lap six Larson would make the pass and take the lead.  The next lap though it was a three car race for the lead as Larson was challenged by Andrews and Dan Strandberg, Worthington MN.  Larson however would maintain the lead and Strandberg would move into the second spot getting by Andrews.  When the checkered flag flew it was Dustin Larson picking up the win followed by Dan Strandberg, Jason Andrews, Justin Nehring, Storm Lake IA, and Chad Carlson.  Heat races were won by Brandon Murphy, Dustin Larson, and Dan Strandberg.
The 6-lap Hornet feature was won by Nate Coopman followed by Amanda Kaltved, Estherville IA, Craig Lappegard, Estherville IA, Megan Lappegard, Estherville IA, and Tyler Manning, Graettinger IA.
