Wins May 1st Feature

JACKSON, MN. -  It was a long tow for Chris Weatherton of
Beresford, SD to the Jackson Speedway on May 1, but the
ride was worth it for the pilot of the "Senor Wiener"
sponsored #7 IMCA Sport Mod. Weatherton drove a great race
as he claimed the checkers in the Sport Mod feature event
at the speedway, as the IMCA Northern Sport Mods took to
the famed half-mile as the support class for the visit of
the World of Outlaws to the Jackson Speedway Saturday, May
1.

A field of 18 cars literally blew into the Jackson County
Fairgrounds on the gusty winds Saturday afternoon, but by
feature time, the winds had died down and the racers put
on a great show for the near-capacity crowd at the
Speedway. There were plenty of lead changes in the feature
event as many of the drivers took to the track for the
first time this season, but when flagman Dave Doppenberg's
double checkers flew, it was Weatherton's sharp #7 mod
with the curious sponsor's name that drew the chants of
"Senor Wiener" as Weatherton crawled from his car in the
Speedway's Victory Lane.

The IMCA Northern Sport Mods will return to action at
Jackson Speedway on Saturday, May 22, for the official
season opener at the facility, which is located on the
Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson, Minn. Also
competing on May 22 will be Hornets, IMCA Hobby Stocks,
IMCA Stock Cars, Jackson Speedway 305 winged sprints and
Jackson Speedway Touring Series 360 winged sprints.
