Four-Wide Racing For Doug Cellan Memorial

Its the kind of race Doug Cellan would have loved to watch. With extra money in the purse for the Performance Center IMCA Stock Cars, the Doug Cellan Memorial Night at Jackson Speedway featured one of the best stock car features of the season Saturday night, July 10. Cellan, a former steward at the speedway, was honored with the first-ever Cellan Memorial Stock Car feature Saturday night, with additional monies being donated to the stock car purse by several former and current employees of Jackson Speedway who had the great fortune to work with Cellan and share his love and support of the sport of auto racing.
Jake Masters of Graettinger, IA, put his car out in front at the drop of the green flag for the 20-lap features and led every lap to pick up the checkers and giant trophy in a race that saw four-wide duels down the straightaways for most of the event. With the win, Masters backed up his feature win from July 3 to become another repeat winner this season at the historic half-mile.
There were also repeat winners in the Hornet class, as Nate Coopman of Mankato, MN, took the win for the second week in a row, and in the IMCA Hobby Stock Class, where Dustin Larson of Rushmore, MN, piloted his 5L under the checkers for the second week in a row.
In the KICD 305 Sprint class, Russell Wiese of Spencer, IA, ran away from the field in the feature and took his second consecutive Jackson Speedway checkered flag on Saturday night. In the Forbes Meats 360 Championship Sprint class, the red 05 of Billy Boles of Harris, IA, had the speedway figured out and rode the rail to earn the double-checkered flags for the feature event.
The racing action continues next Saturday night, July 17, with the annual AGCO Employee Appreciation Night as all classes will take to track with hot laps starting at 6:30 p.m . and racing to follow.
